COVID-19 Updates

Vaccinations protect you, your family, and your community

Staying up on COVID-19 is challenging. The virus is a shape-shifter, as it mutates and spreads. The Dept of Health has revamped their reporting on COVID - check it out here.

Full vaccination is still NM’s first priority. Vaccinations are safe and effective. About 76% of New Mexico adults have completed their initial vaccine series, about 57% of 12- to 17-year-olds and about 28.5% of kids 5 to 11. About 34% of adults have received a booster shot.

All New Mexicans age 5 and older are approved to be vaccinated. Everyone 18 and older is eligible for a booster 6 months after completing the Pfizer/Moderna vaccination series and 2 months after a J&J vaccination. Pfizer boosters have now been approved for 16-17 year olds.

Wear Masks. Since Omicron can infect vaccinated individuals, masks are now required in all public places, regardless of vaccination status. Wearing masks indoors will protect you and all others around you. See tips on selecting and wearing masks.

No-Cost COVID Testing for All New Mexicans. Several agencies and organizations are offering free testing to New Mexicans. Find testing sites or order an at-home test at no cost. Learn more about the different ways to access tests here. Access more information about about how you can get testing now and what do do with your test results here.

Track Your COVID Exposure. Given the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, the state is encouraging New Mexicans to download NM Notify, an application that is designed to quickly notify you if you have likely been exposed to COVID-19. It does not know, collect, or share any of your personal information nor does it know, collect, or share any location information. Learn more.
