Valeria Alarcón, BS
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Valeria Alarcón is a visionary leader and catalyst with over 25 years of experience driving impact across the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. With a career rooted in advocacy, policy, systems collaboration, and strategic innovation, Valeria has dedicated her life to building equitable and thriving communities—locally and globally. Her expertise lies in leading high-level organizational strategy, fostering cross-sector partnerships for collective impact, and advancing health equity through inclusive and forward-thinking solutions.
As a Latina—woman of color and a 13 year cancer thriver, Valeria’s lived experience has deeply shaped her purpose and life's mission. Thriving in the face of adversity has not only defined her personal journey but also fueled her lifelong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion at the most foundational levels of leadership, organizational culture, and systems change.
In 2009, Valeria founded VIA Consulting LLC, a strategic consultancy that catalyzes systems through equity and accelerates race and gender equality through bold, innovative, and solution-driven approaches. Her clients span a broad spectrum—from international NGOs and foundations to social entrepreneurs, municipalities, state agencies/ Government and nonprofit leaders—each engaged in transformational work to shift systems and outcomes for historically marginalized communities.
Valeria's thought-provoking leadership, strategic insight, and collaborative spirit continue to be instrumental in shaping public policy, strengthening organizational capacity, and mobilizing unified efforts to advance health equity across New Mexico and beyond. Valeria’s dedication to cultivating leadership from within and building bridges across sectors will remain critical to the success of any collective endeavor toward a more just and healthy future for all.
Valeria holds a B.S. in Organizational Psychology from the College of Santa Fe, and certifications in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion from Cornell University and Integrative Nutrition from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York.
