Hidalgo County Health Council Coordinator, June 2021-Present

Margaret Chavez has worked on capacity-building collaborations within the Health Council to ensure every resource is at the table to improve health equity in the Hidalgo County community.  Margaret Chavez is a (QPR) Question, Refer, Persuade, Gatekeeper Instructor Certified and NARCAN Trainer. Margaret is on multiple boards/committees in her county, including the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), Lordsburg/Hidalgo County Chamber of Commerce, Hidalgo County DWI, and as a newly elected member of the Lordsburg City Council. She is the founder and Chair of the non-profit Hidalgo County Cancer Hope & Healing. An organization she founded, helping those with travel, lodging, and copays who bravely battle cancer in Hidalgo County. Margaret Chavez’s hobbies are spending time with her family and focusing on raising community Asthma Awareness, inspired by her son, who has been diagnosed with asthma.
