Workshop: Community-Based Social Marketing: Change the Way We Communicate and Change Society

Ever wonder,Why Can’t We Sell Public Health Like They Sell Coca-Cola?”

We have the means. Social Marketing is an evidence-based, proven approach that blends ideas and tools from commercial marketing and social sciences to better plan and implement strategies that influence people’s behavior—or social change—for the benefit of society as a whole.

COVID showed us how essential communication is in public health efforts. Yet messaging was often considered confusing, uncoordinated and ineffectual in bringing about behavior (vaccination) or social (preventive masking, social distancing) change. One reason: little use of community-based strategic social marketing/communication planning. Come to the Community-Based Social Marketing: Change the Way We Communicate and Change Society workshop, 2:00-3:30 on Thursday, May 19 at the NMPHA 2022 Conference. Learn how to boost the effectiveness of your communication and social media programs and transform how you think about communicating with your public in this fun, interactive session.
